One of our customers says, “What’s the best way to add a down payment field to the payment calculator?”
This resulted in a series of head scratches and scrambling around to find the right answer. It turns out there were a few different options. One of those options would have cost nothing, but another option was to pay out some greenbacks and sponsor adding a down payment field to the core PlugIn.
He didn’t even blink an eye and opted to sponsor adding the feature. Now everyone can take advantage of it! Props to Gogi Randhawa for making sure this was available to everyone!
In the words of the incomparable Stan Lee:
"Another definition of a hero is someone who is concerned about other people's well-being, and will go out of his or her way to help them -- even if there is no chance of a reward. That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero." - Stan Lee
Stan Lee makes a pretty good point. A hero isn’t always someone wearing a cape or smashing out crime. A hero is someone who does something for the good of others simply because it’s the right thing to do.
Sounds a lot like what Gogi Randhawa did when he decided to sponsor adding a new feature. He could have picked the other option, which wouldn’t have cost a cent. But he picked the option where he paid out of his own pocket for everyone to benefit.
In our opinion that makes Gogi Randhawa the v1.1.0 Sponsored Hero!
This is one of the things we love about the WordPress community. We all tend to help and support one another in whatever way we can. That support helps grow the industry, which in turn benefits us all. I think this is exactly the kind of thing Stan Lee had in mind.
We have lots of plans for growing WPSuperDealer and a future feature list a half mile long. There’s a file in the root of the PlugIn called roadmap.txt – in it you’ll find a list of items we’d like to add over the next couple versions.
There are lots of ways to support and give back to the community. Gogi opted to sponsor a new feature, but If you’re a developer and want to help out then send us a pull request on BitBucket or reach out and let us know you’d like to get involved. Maybe you have a great idea but don’t know how to make it happen. Reach out and let us know, we’d love to hear from you.
